Idea
Masdar is the regional leader and a major international player in renewable energy and sustainable urban development. The Zayed Sustainability Prize (ZSP), which is one of the subsidiaries of Masdar, is an annual award that celebrates achievements that are driving impact, innovation and inspiration across five distinct categories: Health, Food, Energy, Water and Global High Schools.
The challenge for the team at ZSP was the need to create a portal in which applicants could apply for the prize directly online. As the full application process takes hours due to the complexity of the different elements and detailed questions you need to complete, it was no small challenge to face. Workflow automation and advanced reporting capabilities were crucial parts of the process.
Another requirement was flexibility: each year the application process for ZSP changes to accommodate for new categories. That meant we had to make sure the portal was built in a way that was flexible enough that it could be changed quickly, without compromising the performance and stability of the site.

Results
We created a portal that is responsive and has automated backups. The teams at Webology and ZSP worked closely together to make sure that the portal was built successfully, tested thoroughly and launched before the opening of that year’s submission.
The portal so far has worked without a glitch and the number of submissions continue to increase annually. We’d like to think that’s a success!
